Own Boss

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Author: Joyce Mccall

Being your own boss is great – there are so many times when I’ve been so thankful I just get to make the risky decision on my own and I don’t have to ask anyone about it. But at the same time there are definitely moments when I worry about whether or not I’m doing the right thing and making the right calls since some of the things I’m deciding today can really impact my future, you know? I looked into www.t1internet.net the other day because I think I need faster internet to really beef up my business but I never know how much is a good investment in any one thing (like tech). When I rented out this office space I got totally burned on the deal – I’m paying way too much – but that’s one of those things you don’t know until after the fact so it’s something I’m learning from. That’s what being a small business owner is all about, really, learning from your mistakes and getting better as you go along.

We’re Moving

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Finally after a few years of renting we are purchasing our first home.  We couldn’t be more excited.  I never would have thought my first home would be in Arizona, but I gotta say I am very proud to own property in this great state.

Daughter College

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

The Author of this post is Solomon Dejesus

I remember telling my wife that I wanted to have five to seven children. We only ended up having two and now that they are both going to be in college I am seriously glad we only have two! Last weekend I moved my baby girlinto her very own Texas home with three of her closest friends. The house is two blocks away from the college campus. I feels really surreal to have both your children not living in the same state as you are. But I know college is such an important time in a young adult’s life and I am so proud of each of my children. I am not to excited about the expenses though! Tuition is killer enough then I am paying both of their rents and bills along with that. I was thrilled when a friend of mine told me about Green Mountain Energy – Could be your Electricity Supplier, since she is living in Texas. I am always looking for ways to streamline my expenses! My daughter may not appreciate a fixed rate now, but she will when she is paying the bill!

The perfect leather clutch for fall weekends

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Guest post written by Marissa Brodrick

I’m all about dressing for the weekends. See, I have to really dress up for work during the week, so I love to dress however I want on the weekends. You would think that I might just wear sweats during the weekend or something, but I’m really into fashion. So I like to take advantage of that on the weekends.

One thing that I knew that I wanted for my fall weekends as soon as they started popping up on fashion blogs was the oversized clutch for day. I just think that it looks so chic! I was online shopping for one a few days ago when I ran across some info on internet service providers. After I looked through it some, I showed it to my husband and we decided to sign up for one of the packages on there for our home service.

Once I spent a few hours looking for the perfect clutch online, I found a brown leather clutch that is just what I was imagining for myself. So I put in an order for it right away and I can’t wait to carry it around with me on the weekends!

J Cole Music

Sunday, December 11th, 2011

I have a new favorite song that is stuck in my head so I figured I would talk about it in today’s blog post to help get it out of my system or maybe get it stuck in your head. The song is “Can’t Get Enough” by artist j cole. We were out at a club in downtown Phoenix when I first heard it and I kept singing it over and over it was so catchy.

Later that night when I got home I purchased the album on iTunes and put it on my phone so now I can hear it wherever I go. I just figure if I can’t get the song out of my head I might as well play it loud and sing along with j cole. My wife really likes the song too so she doesn’t mind that I play it so much, but she does think it’s a little strange how obsessed I am with the album now.

Do any of you have a song that just gets stuck in your head? Comment on this post and let me know which song you can’t get out of your head and what you do to try and shake it.

Guys Night Out

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Last night Dustin and I did a much needed guys night out. We had dinner, hit the batting cages and planned a trip up to the casino. Before we headed out to the casino we checked out some online casinos to learn how to play some of the table games. I really liked Lucky Stud Casino if you want to check it out you can visit now. After an hour or two of playing we really felt ready to go try our luck at the tables. We did pretty well and left a head which is better than usual for us. I think I liked playing online better because we weren’t surrounded by smoke and other players who were giving us dirty looks cause we were “newbies.”

All in all the night was a success Dustin and I both stood in front of 70+ mph pitched and although I didn’t make as much contact as I would have liked to its still nice that you can get outdoors to the cages in the middle of December, you gotta love Arizona. I also highly recommend the Southwest Egg Rolls at Gorden Birshce they are zesty and taste amazing. I am heading out to the Coyotes game this weekend and there is one right next to the arena so I will definitely be hitting it up for a pre game snack.

We are heading up to Las Vegas for a work conference at the first part of January and we are gonna try our luck on the big boy tables and see if we have any success in Sin City.

Jersey Shore

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Guest written by our friend Sergio Chaney

Some of the shows that come on these days are truly just ridiculous. There is no other way to put it. I know I might be a traitor to my generation, but I have to admit that I think most of the television we have been responsible for is just complete garbage. Case in point: Jersey Shore. Guys, come on. I understand that this show is supposed to be emblematic of the current generation. This makes me want to hide under a rock and also never, ever have children. If the current generation is this bad, what is it going to be like for future generations? There are already no morals or ethics, clearly…if it’s just going to get worse I seriously don’t think I’ll be able to handle it. The show makes me sick, and the fact that all of the “stars” are now completely famous for contributing nothing to society. Well, nothing other than public intoxication and terrible behavior, that is. Check it out the next time you see if on your www.directv.com. It will probably make you a little sick.

Minneapolis Italian Restaurant

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Yesterday we found this amazing Minneapolis Italian restaurant that our friends recommended. It was an early Friday evening and we decided to make the journey to Minneapolis to try some of these great pasta dishes we’ve heard so much about. To our surprise there was a wait. It was about 30 minutes before we got in and it was well worth the wait. Service was helpful since we had never been there. The bread was one of our favorite parts of the meal. The pasta was outstanding and cooked to perfection. We’re going back again soon.

Moving to Calgary

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

I was recently offered a job up in Calgary, Alberta and although I love living in Arizona, we couldn’t pass up the chance for a new change of scenery. The company offered me a moving bonus as well as one of the finest places to live amongst the furnished Calgary apartments in the area.

We also got Calgary Flame jerseys with our names on the backs of them and are really looking forward to catching some Canadian NHL hockey. I know how Canadian fans get and the place is going to be rocking. My brother lives in Edmonton so that was another major factor in our decision to move up there. We visited last November and although it was really cold we loved the seasons and scenery up there in Canada.

We are working on getting our passports up to date and finalizing our moving arrangements right now and I am flying up for my first meeting with the team next Monday. It should be an exciting time for us and we couldn’t be happier. The job contract is for a year with the ability to stay on as long as I want so it allows us the flexibility to leave after a year if we do not adjust to the culture/weather right away. I have a feeling this could be our new permanent home fingers crossed.
